James M. Baker, CFA, Managing Director |
Mr. Baker has been associated with and advising high net worth individuals
and institutions in the investment management industry since 1985. Before joining
Kanawha, he served twenty years as a Vice President for Wachovia Corporation and its
predecessor firms in both Philadelphia and Richmond. His responsibilities included
key positions in equity research, stock selection, and portfolio management. He is a
1985 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Finance, and earned
his MBA from Villanova University in 1991.

Bates Chappell,
Managing Director |
Mr. Chappell has over 30 years of experience in investments and portfolio
management. With an extensive background in trusts and estates, Mr. Chappell
is well versed in the areas of wealth management and preservation. Before
joining Kanawha he spent 16 years with Capitoline Investment Services,
Inc./Crestar Bank where he managed large individual, endowment, and corporate
accounts. His investment career began in 1968 as an investment broker.
Mr. Chappell is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, (B.S., 1964) and
he performed graduate studies at the University of Richmond.

Charles
K. Fox,
Managing Director |
Mr. Fox has spent his entire career in investments and finance. He was a founder of James River Capital Management before establishing Kanawha Capital Management in 1989. He spent the first eight
years of his career with major financial institutions including Chemical
Bank and First and Merchants National Bank. Mr. Fox is a graduate of the
University of Virginia (B.A., Economics, 1966) and Harvard Business School
(M.B.A., 1974).

Thomas K. Garner, CFP®
Vice President |
Mr. Garner has extensive experience in investments and personal financial planning.
He began his career as a Financial Consultant with Salomon Smith Barney in 1998. Before
joining Kanawha, he also served as an Investment Specialist with the Northwestern Mutual
Financial Network and an Investment Consultant with SunTrust Investment Services. Mr.
Garner has an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and completed the
Financial Planning Certificate Program at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Christopher
J. Singleton, CFA
Managing Director |
Mr. Singleton has more than 15 years experience in finance and investments.
Before joining Kanawha, he was Vice President and Equity Analyst with
Crestar Asset Management. Prior to that, he was a Portfolio Manager and
Research Analyst with Boys, Arnold & Company, a North Carolina investment
advisory firm. Mr. Singleton also spent several years as an Economist
with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, D.C. He has a
B.A. degree from the University of Virginia (1986) and an MBA from the
Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill (1995).

Richard
S. Williford, CFA, Managing Director |
Mr. Williford began his investment career in 1981 after receiving
a B.S. with Distinction from the University of Virginia's McIntire School
of Commerce. Before joining Kanawha in 1991, he managed large corporate,
individual, and endowment portfolios as Vice President at Capitoline Investment
Services, Inc./Crestar Bank. Previously, he was Vice President, Equity
Investment Strategy at Wheat, First Securities where he was responsible
for the formulation and articulation of strategy to a retail sales force
of 450 account executives.
